Oh look, another unconventional pairing. |D; This is becoming a bad habit of mine.
Historically they WERE married, and quite young in fact I think. So I purposely made them look like they were in their mid-teens or something here. Like...their parents arranged it instead of Kocoum asking for her hand...so here they are sizing each other up. XDDD

-------
Now Disney's Pocahontas wasn't my fave movie as a kid, but I've always held a soft spot for Kocoum. Now mind you, I never loved/hated him as a kid; he was just there. XD
But watching the movie now, when I'm older, I can see that while he did have an expression like a constipated stone half the time, he was a good man - protective and loyal and flawed. He was serious, sure, but you tell me what man isn't after recently coming home from a war. |D
As such it irks me to see his character bastardized into a male, chauvanistic pig in what little fanfic he appears in. WTF.
Have you seen the initial draft opening for the movie? He was adorable! [link]
This is one of the few times I've gone against Disney's "canon pairings", I dunno, I often sit back and think 'He should have gotten the girl.' John Smith was cool, don't get me wrong, I loved his sense of humour and John Rolfe was a bit of a ponce...but Kocoum was more man than either of them. XDD
-------
OMG HET? WTF ME. Yeah, Kocoum/Pocahontas is my unconventional Disney pairing. w00t. |D It's probably just me...again. But I like the idea of the challenge that could make this pairing work, AU or otherwise.
There is much fun to be had with a silent warrior and a free-spirited princess. I've always thought it unfair that Poca never gave him a chance or got to know him before writing him off. Things could have been very different. Man I haven't been this in love with a het pairing in YEARS How amusing.
John Smith was just... I don't know. I wasn't too fond of the man. I always thought Pocahontas sort of looked manly... she was a masculine woman! Not saying that is a bad thing though.
This pairing IS awesome, I really like it. X3 And I like John with her too, but Kocoum is just... man, that would have been so interesting! XD I've been meaning to check out the history of Pocahontas.
You make everyone so cute, wtf. I especially love the way you've made their personalities shine. =3

*shameless squeal* Oh wow, you made them so...in character xD I love it!!! I mean...J.S. is cool and all (I neved liked J.R., he always seemed kinda gay to me ) but Kocoum was the hottest thing in that movie <3

He did seem kind of shallow in some aspects I reckon. lol wtf manly Pocahontas? XDDD That's the first I've heard of it! Though I think she was quite strong though, the way she was able to pull Kocoum's knife away from Smith during that epic climax of doom.
It does when you think about it doesn't it? Thanks a lot!

VERY AWESOME. 8D I can't not like John/Poca but it honestly looked like one of those flighty romances that wouldn't last. |D Now with Kocoum...they're so inherently DIFFERENT it could have made for a lot of interesting plots. XD The history is quite interesting, like how Poca was 12 and John was like 30 when they first met, throwing any sort of romance out the window...or how she might have borne Kocoum a son they called 'Little Kocoum'...there are lots of variations to the tale. XD
hahaha thanks a lot! It wouldn't be the same without their personalities I reckon. >8D

Thank you! Exactly right [Rolfe was too poncy lol], there's something about the quiet, serious men that make me go 'aww' at their social ineptitude. XDD <333
I KNOW. I'm so in love with that pic it's not funny. >8D

an expression like a constipated stone <- This, my dear, is inspired writing. An expression this cool only comes around once in a while.
